Content Strategist
About the role
The Content Strategist will be responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive content strategy that supports SmartFinanceNerd’s brand, product, and growth objectives. This full-time, on-site role based in Los Angeles, CA involves planning editorial calendars, defining content themes, and aligning messaging across web, blog, email, and social channels. Day-to-day tasks include researching user needs and market trends, creating clear content briefs, collaborating with writers and designers, and optimizing content for engagement and conversion. The Content Strategist will analyze performance metrics, run experiments, and refine content approaches to drive user acquisition, education, and retention. This role will also partner closely with product and marketing teams to ensure content accurately reflects platform features, privacy principles, and financial best practices.
What we're looking for
- Strong content strategy skills, including experience defining content frameworks, editorial calendars, and messaging guidelines.
- Content management experience using CMS tools to organize, publish, and maintain digital content across multiple channels.
- Content development skills, with the ability to translate product and user insights into clear, actionable content briefs and narratives.
- Web content writing and general writing skills, with a focus on clarity, accessibility, and audience-specific tone.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (marketing, product, design) to align content with business and user goals.
- Ability to interpret analytics (e.g., traffic, engagement, conversion) and apply findings to improve content performance.
- Familiarity with personal finance or fintech content, and comfort explaining financial concepts to a broad audience.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
