This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how SmartFinanceNerd LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and otherwise processes personal information when you use the SmartFinanceNerd website, calculators, accounts, and paid features (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you acknowledge this Policy and our Terms of Use.
1. Who We Are

This Policy applies to personal information we process through the Service. It does not apply to third-party websites, apps, or services linked from the Service, which are governed by their own privacy policies. 3.1 Information you provide
- Account data: Email address, authentication identifiers, profile settings, and optional display information.
- Financial and workspace data: Transaction entries, categories, budgets, compensation or equity inputs, saved calculator scenarios, and other data you choose to store while signed in.
- Communications: Messages you send to support, feedback forms, or email correspondence.
- Payment-related data: Billing contact details and subscription status. Payment card numbers are processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
3.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, pages viewed, referring URLs, timestamps, and interaction events.
- Cookies and similar technologies: See Section 8.
- Security logs: Authentication events, rate-limit signals, and diagnostic data used to detect abuse and maintain reliability.
3.3 Calculator use without an account
When you use calculators without signing in, inputs are generally processed to produce results in your browser or session and are not linked to a persistent account unless you choose to save data while authenticated. We may still collect limited technical data described above.
3.4 Sensitive information
You may voluntarily enter financial or employment-related information in the Service. We process such information only to provide features you request. Do not submit information you are not comfortable storing in a cloud-based educational product. We do not intentionally collect government ID numbers, full payment card numbers, or health information through the Service.
4. Sources of Information
We collect information directly from you, automatically through your use of the Service, from payment and authentication providers, and from service providers that help us operate the Service (such as hosting and analytics vendors acting on our instructions).
5. How We Use Information

11.1 California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents may have rights to know, delete, and correct personal information, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" as defined by California law. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of consumers under 16. You may submit requests to the contact above. Authorized agents may submit requests with proof of authorization. We will respond within timeframes required by law.
11.2 Nevada residents
Nevada residents may opt out of the sale of certain covered information as defined under Nevada law by contacting us at the email above. We do not currently sell covered information as defined by Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 603A.
11.3 EEA, UK, and Switzerland
You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Our lead contact for requests is the email above. Where we transfer personal information internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms where required.
12. International Transfers
We are based in the United States.
