UIUX Intern

About the role

As a UI/UX Intern at SmartFinanceNerd, you will contribute to designing intuitive, privacy-focused interfaces that help users manage multiple financial workspaces with ease. In this full-time, on-site role based in Los Angeles, CA, you will assist with user research, wireframing, and visual design for web and mobile experiences. You will collaborate with product managers and engineers to create mockups, interactive prototypes, and clear interaction flows that support key features such as selective sharing and real settle-ups. Your day-to-day work will include refining design systems, participating in design reviews, and iterating on user interface components based on feedback and usability insights. This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-moving fintech environment while building a strong UI/UX portfolio.

What we're looking for

• Ability to create clear mockups and prototypes to communicate interaction flows and interface states.
• Strong visual design skills, including layout, typography, color, and consistency across web and mobile interfaces.
• Foundational knowledge of user experience design (UED), including user flows, information architecture, and usability principles.
• Basic front-end development skills (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) are a plus for implementing or testing designs.
• Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to take feedback constructively, and willingness to iterate on designs.
• Interest in personal finance or fintech and a willingness to learn about privacy-centric product design.
