UIUX Engineer
About the role
The UI/UX Engineer will design and implement intuitive, privacy-focused user interfaces that support SmartFinanceNerd’s multi-workspace financial experiences. This full-time, on-site role in Los Angeles, CA involves creating wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes, then translating them into responsive front-end implementations. The role includes conducting user research and usability testing, refining information architecture, and optimizing flows for tasks such as workspace management, transaction sharing, and settle-ups. The UI/UX Engineer will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and data teams to ensure design consistency, performance, and accessibility across web and mobile surfaces. Day-to-day work will include iterating on visual design systems, improving interaction patterns, and shipping high-quality, user-centered features.
What we're looking for
- Strong user experience design skills, including User Experience Design (UED) and interaction design for complex, data-rich products.
- Proficiency in mockups and visual design, with the ability to create cohesive design systems and polished UI layouts.
- Experience with prototyping tools and workflows, capable of building interactive prototypes for testing and stakeholder reviews.
- Solid front-end development skills (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, modern frameworks) to translate designs into production-ready interfaces.
- Familiarity with usability testing, user research methods, and analytics to inform design decisions and measure outcomes.
- Understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG), and cross-platform consistency.
- Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams, communicate design rationale clearly, and iterate based on feedback.
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in fintech, personal finance, or privacy-focused consumer products is a plus.
