Product Designer
About the role
This is a full-time, on-site Product Designer role based in Los Angeles, CA. The Product Designer will be responsible for end-to-end product design, including discovery, user journeys, wireframes, high-fidelity interfaces, and interaction patterns for SmartFinanceNerd’s web and mobile experiences. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with product and engineering to define problems, conducting user research and usability testing, translating insights into intuitive workflows, and maintaining a consistent visual and interaction language across the platform. The role also involves creating design documentation, participating in design critiques, and iterating quickly based on feedback and data to improve core features such as workspace management, privacy controls, and collaborative budgeting flows.
What we're looking for
- Strong Product Design and Design Thinking skills, with experience taking features from concept through to shipped product.
- Experience in User Research and UX Research, including interviews, usability testing, and synthesizing insights into actionable design decisions.
- Proficiency in Visual Design, including layout, typography, color, and design systems for responsive web and mobile interfaces.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, communicating design rationale clearly to product managers and engineers.
- Proficiency with modern design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD) and workflows, including prototyping and handoff to development.
- Demonstrated portfolio of shipped consumer or fintech products that highlight user-centered design and clear interaction patterns.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to balance privacy, usability, and business goals in product decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in personal finance, fintech, or productivity tools is a plus.
