Full-Stack Engineer
About the role
The Full Stack Engineer will work on-site in Los Angeles, CA in a full-time capacity, contributing to the design, development, and maintenance of SmartFinanceNerd’s web platform. This role involves building and optimizing front-end interfaces, implementing robust back-end services and APIs, and ensuring secure, performant integrations with financial data sources. The engineer will collaborate closely with product and design teams to translate user needs into reliable features, improve workflows around multi-workspace and privacy controls, and participate in code reviews and testing. Day-to-day responsibilities include writing clean, maintainable code, troubleshooting issues across the stack, maintaining documentation, and contributing to architectural decisions that support scalability and security. The person in this role will help enhance the overall user experience and support the platform’s privacy-first approach to personal finance.
What we're looking for
- Strong front-end development skills, including experience with modern JavaScript frameworks and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).
- Proficiency in back-end web development, including building APIs, working with databases, and implementing secure server-side logic.
- Hands-on experience with full-stack development, integrating front-end and back-end components into cohesive software solutions.
- Solid foundation in general software development practices, including version control, testing, debugging, and documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with security best practices, especially in handling financial or other sensitive user data.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, deployment pipelines, and performance optimization for web applications.
- Ability to collaborate in an on-site team environment, communicate clearly, and contribute to cross-functional projects.
